DIY Mother’s Day Gift

DIY Mother’s Day Gift

Now that I’m a mom I feel like I know what mom’s would appreciate for Mother’s Day. A DAY OFF FROM THEIR CHILD(REN). HA just kidding!! As a new mom, sometimes all I want to do is relax, get my nails done, get a massage and just take a long, uninterrupted bath in our massive unused jacuzzi tub.

What better gift than to give your mom or mom friends a homemade spa. Today I am going to show you how to make homemade bath salts for you or your mom to enjoy! These salts are perfect for baths or even a feet/leg soaks because every mom needs a little pampering after running after their little one. You’re welcome!

Let’s get started!

You will need:

  1. Epsom Salt
  2. Coarse Sea Salt
  3. Essential Oils ( I used Eucalyptus and Lavender) and Dropper
  4. Gel Food Coloring
  5. Mason Jars/Test Tube Containers

Directions:

The ratio is 2:1 coarse sea salt to epsom salt. I used 1 cup of coarse sea salt and 1/2 cup of epsom salt.

Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oils. I used lavender for one batch and eucalyptus for the second batch. I always buy my essential oils from Amazon, they are inexpensive and come in large bottles.

Separate the mix into smaller bowls. Add 2-3 drops of gel food coloring in each bowl and mix with a spoon until the color spreads through. (Do not mix more than one color in each bowl)

Arrange the salts in any container you have. To make the color block, I put plain epsom salt in between the colored salt and filled to the top.

To make the labels, use chalk paint. First outline how big and what shape you want the label to be.

I used a small bottle of this chalk paint I picked up from Hobby Lobby. Use a small paint brush and wait 2 hours before applying the second coat. I used a chalk marker that I also got from Hobby Lobby to write the names.
