Henna Ink. @ The Lemon Collective

Henna Ink. @ The Lemon Collective

Last week, I had the opportunity to host an Intro to Henna workshop at the Lemon Collective in DC. First of all, can we talk about how cute their building is?! When I pulled up to the place, I just fell in love with the cute blue building and the couple of lemons painted on it. I couldn’t leave without getting a picture in front of it!

For those who don’t know, henna art has been my side hustle for a little over 6 years. The name of my company is Henna Ink. I apply henna on individuals, brides and bridal parties as well as decorate and sell various henna inspired items. I quit my full time job a little over a year ago after having my daughter to be home with her. I have put all my free time and energy into my business to make it my full time job. I like to believe that I have succeeded so far and this henna class is proof.

Teaching henna was not something I saw in my future but when the opportunities arose, I gladly embraced it and never looked back. I didn’t think I would love teaching as much as I do but now it’s something I always look forward to. In the future I plan to have different levels of henna courses (henna 101, henna 201, etc) and just share whatever I can with you all.

In the past I have taught the basics of henna at universities as an extra curricular activity for the students, but this time, I was able to open it up to the public and we had a GREAT group of ladies that signed up for the class. I am so grateful! The entire group just hit it off so well and we had a blast if I do say so myself! We learned how to make my signature hibiscus flower and a somewhat difficult paisley. We also learned how to combine different elements and make a cohesive design on the hands.

Thanks to the amazing ladies that came out on a Wednesday evening from all over the DMV. I hope I was able to teach you a little something and I hope you will be back for a henna intensive course! Also, a huge thank you to Holley from The Lemon Collective for letting me host my event there!

Enjoy the few pictures I managed to snap! We were too busy having fun I forgot to take a ton of pictures.
