From One Working Mom to Another

From One Working Mom to Another

Dear Mama,

I understand when you try to come to work on time so you can leave exactly when the workday is over to get back to your kids.

I understand when it’s not work hours, you don’t dare to check your emails because you’re trying to leave that all behind and focus on being present with your kids.

I understand when you’re late calling into a meeting because your kid was having a tantrum 30 seconds before.

I understand when you come to work looking exhausted because you were up all night with the baby.

I understand when you feel isolated because you are the only Mom in your workplace.

I understand when you sound defensive because you feel like you need to overcompensate for not being able to give 120%.

I understand you feel like you need to leave your personal life at the door when you go to work but when you’re a mom to 2 young kids, they are your only priority.

Being a working mom (outside the home, because we all know every mom is a working mom) is not an easy lifestyle.

So thank you to everyone who has shown us mercy.

Thank you to our bosses, clients and colleagues who adjust their schedule to make the workday easier for us.

Thank you to the people who continue to check in on us and make sure we’re doing ok.

Thank you to our spouses who make sure the car has a full tank of gas so we don’t have to worry about it in the morning.

Thank you to all our co-workers who step in for us when there is a kid related emergency.

Thank you for not having us choose between being a SAHM or working mom and encouraging us that we can have both.

The day to day is not easy to say the least but it’s 1000% worth it!

Yours truly,
Rehma
