Kitchen Renovation Challenge Week 5

Kitchen Renovation Challenge Week 5

WHAT A WEEK!

It’s week 5 of the renovation challenge and we have officially demo’d the ENTIRE kitchen! We finally started putting it all back together! We have been working nonstop for the past 8 days laying the tiles down. By nonstop, I mean NONSTOP!

Before I share the progress of the kitchen, head over to the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge page and VOTE for your girl!

The hardest part of the job was getting rid of the old tiles and making the surface smooth so we can start laying new tiles. That took about 4 days to smooth out and now we can start to see the new kitchen come to life.

I chose the Jeffrey Court Winters Peak tile for the floors. The veining on the tiles are beautiful and each one is unique which I love! My dad and I have a system down for laying the tiles and things are moving along real quick. The tricky part with the tiles is making sure they are all leveled, not only to each other but to the hardwood floors outside the kitchen. We really need to avoid a step up or step down so we are taking the extra time to make sure all tiles are leveled before moving on to the next row.

Just look at the progress! Can you envision it?

The backsplash tile is what I am so excited for! We are not replacing the backsplash because there was nothing to begin with so there is no demo involved (Thank God!). I chose the Suburbs White Picket Marble mosaic tile and next to the gold accents, it looks divine!

We decided to cut off the bottom point of the tile so that it is easier to place and level on the wall. I used Frogtape to make a line across the tile and ran it through the tile saw. This allowed me to have a straight bottom and an even start to the tiling.

The entire kitchen is coming together nicely but this last week will be all hustle! Next week is the final reveal so stay tuned!

I can’t believe we are so close to our dream kitchen! If you missed last weeks progress, check it out HERE

See you next week for the REVEAL!
