Playroom Mural Featuring HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams

Playroom Mural Featuring HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams

Guess what! Since you all absolutely LOVED the playroom mural I did for my kids, I’m doing another! I have to say I think I found my passion!

My cousin asked me to create a mural for my niece and nephew so of course, I had to drop everything and get started on it. I partnered with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams to create a one of a kind playroom mural. I can always rely on the curated Color Collections and know that each color will work together in a space.

We were playing with an idea in our head for a while so we finally sat down with our kid’s crayons and drew out the design on paper. We wanted to create a mini town on the walls with different size buildings, a mosque and homes.

Next, we chose the Color Collection, “Softer Side”  and picked 7 colors from the Collection. These colors were exactly what we were looking for but before we could settle, we ordered paint chips from hgtvhomebysherwinwilliams.com for FREE!

After testing the paint chips on the wall, we landed on these colors

“Softer Side” Color Collection:

Porcelain (HGSW0053)- Base color

Butter Up (HGSW1196)

Honest Blue (HGSW2386)

Aloe (HGSW 2296)

Mellow Coral (HGSW 2066)

Ash Violet (HGSW2415)

Requisite Gray (HGSW2466

Before I could get started on the mural, I needed to paint a base color. The walls were bare but I wanted to add a little warmth to it so I painted all the walls in the playroom with “Porcelain” in the Showcase Interior Paint. After the paint dried, I used painters tape and a laser leveler to mark off where the buildings were going to go. This step was surprisingly so easy with the laser leveler.

After all the buildings were marked up, I went ahead and started painting. Because I did not need a huge volume of paint, I went to Lowe’s and got all the paint tinted in sample size. The colors we chose looked stunning next to each other and I could already see my vision come to life. The best part of the mural was adding the windows, doors, and flower boxes to make it look like a little town. My favorite drawings were the clouds, the sun and the hot air balloon!

At this point, my niece and nephew were way too excited and could not wait to start playing in their newly designed playroom and I couldn’t wait to show them. I started to bring all their toys in and set up a tea party. They did not let me finish before they ran in and started playing!

Safe to say my mini clients are very pleased with how the playroom mural turned out!

A huge shout out to HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams for sponsoring this project!  What do you think? Would you recreate this?

Be sure to check out some of the other rooms I’ve transformed this past year! It won’t disappoint!
