One Room Challenge Week 1- Dining Room Design

One Room Challenge Week 1- Dining Room Design

In case you missed the major news, we MOVED! I know what you’re thinking! After all that work we put into our home, we just packed up and left?! Yup! That’s life and unfortunately, change is the only constant.

We barely finished moving in and I’m so ready to get started on making this house feel like home. Last year for the One Room Challenge, I renovated my 4 year old’s big girl room. You can read about it here! This year in our new home, I’m excited to be renovating the dining room! It’s the first space you see when you enter the home so we gotta add a wow factor.

Here’s just a basic dining room. Ignore the sewing machine in the corner.

The Design Plan

I really want to play off the chair railing on the main dining room wall so I will be adding in picture frame moulding to the bottom half of the wall. The top half of the wall will be a feature wallpaper OR a stenciled wall art. Haven’t decided yet because I’m picky on the designs.

We’ll be changing out the light fixture and I can’t wait until you see it in real life! Lastly, I have 8 weeks to look for thrifted dining chairs. I’m all about mixing modern with vintage so I’m on the hunt for something I can refurbish. We’ll see if it works out. If you want to join my thrifting hunt, be sure to follow me on IG stories.

The color palette for this space is going to be light, airy with hints of neutral gray and green tones. This will allow all the black accents to pop against all the neutrals.

Thanks in advance for following along! I can’t wait for the final reveal in 8 short weeks! Drop a comment below if you’re going to be following along or if you’re participating in this year’s One Room Challenge. Oh and be sure to check out the other amazing designers and see what they’re up to here
