One Year Blog Anniversary

One Year Blog Anniversary

One Year Blog Anniversary

One year ago, I hit the publish button on this blog. I cannot believe how fast the time just flew by. It seems like just yesterday I was playing with the idea in my head and wondering if this is something I could pull off. To celebrate The Hady Life’s first blog anniversary, I’m sharing a little behind the scenes of why I started blogging and how The Hady Life came about!

Why I started blogging?

Have you ever had an idea stuck in your head for so long that you researched day and night and started losing sleep over it? That was me when I had the idea to start a lifestyle blog. Way before I even thought about starting a blog I used to love taking before and after photos of various projects and probably in the back of my mind thought I would post them for the world to see. I have always loved art and making things with my hands (I get it from my parents) so one day I just decided to go for it and start a blog where I share all of these things. I was/am a first time mom and thought I could take you along in my journey to parenthood.

I stayed up many nights reading blogs on how to be a successful blogger. I used to wake up early in the morning before my daughter wakes up to do a little research and website designing. I decided to just go for it after contemplating it for so long. I taught myself how to create a website and learned a little coding to make the website exactly how I wanted it.

When it came time to hit the publish button I was sick to my stomach. I kept thinking what if this is stupid and everyone laughs at me. I quickly came to the realization that it’s not about what others will think. I am doing this for myself and because I am passionate about it. When I announced on my Facebook that I started a blog I was extremely nervous but sort of excited and I kept checking to see what was going on. I was so surprised at the reaction and support I received. After blogging for an entire year, I can say that I have truly enjoyed it! I look forward to creating content or trying out new things just for the blog.

Why The Hady Life?

I decided on this name because I wanted it to encompass all aspects of my life such as motherhood, fashion, food and DIY instead of one particular thing. I wanted to share my experiences as a mom who is also a business owner, fashionista and a DIY junkie. I wanted to stay true to myself and therefore came up with the name The Hady Life.

What I learned in one year of blogging

The biggest thing I have learned this past year is accepting myself for the way I am. By putting myself out there I am opening myself up for judgment. I learned that I should be proud of what I put out there. I am not chasing followers or fame, I am sharing whatever I want and if people find my content useful then that’s all I can ask for.

This past year my blog has been in the test phase. As I am learning more about myself I’m beginning to understand what I’m truly passionate about and I think my blog and social medias have been reflecting that with the many changes it has gone through.

I never realized how supportive the blogging community is. Especially the muslim mom bloggers. I find myself bouncing ideas off of others and it helps me stay motivated. I also did not expect my friends and family to be so supportive. I love when my friends come up to me and say they actually tried something I posted whether it’s a recipe or a DIY project.

What’s next for The Hady Life?

I have been going back and forth with this idea but was thinking of adding a travel portion to my blog. We love to travel as a family and I would love to start sharing the places we go, places we eat and things we see. Is that something that you would read?

I also want to try and take my blog to the next level. I will start posting more often and hopefully share more tutorials on all my DIY projects and activities for my toddler. I plan to be more active on my social media such as Instagram stories and just share my day to day as a mom. I am entering the toddler phase and more importantly the terrible two phase so I am looking forward to sharing my experience with that.

Does my blog make money?

For those who are wondering whether my blog makes any money. I am lucky enough to run a successful Henna business, Henna Ink. that support me full time. Although I would love to make money blogging, it will take a little time because I am in the process of growing an authentic following. I would never support a product I don’t believe in or use. I use affiliate links in my posts but that basically supports my caffeine addiction and that’s pretty much it. But, if I do ever make money through blogging I will be more than happy to share how it happens.
